Manuel Belgrano read furiously whatever he could get his hands on. He sought to share the enlightened ideas that nested in newspapers and books to comment on them from his studies in Spain in the correspondence he exchanged with his parents, and already in Buenos Aires with friends and colleagues. After the foundation of the Public Library of Buenos Aires in September 1810 by the First Government Junta, of which he was a member, he donated on two occasions different books from his private collection to expand the institution's bibliographic collection. Here is the inventory of the books that Belgrano bequeathed, some of which are still kept in the Treasure Room of the "Mariano Moreno" National Library. |
