Among the contributions of Information Science stand out those related to understanding science through activities aimed at tracking, measuring and analyze the behavior of scientific production on a given topic. The cataloguing, center of professional and research activities in the context of organization and representation information, has gone through a movement, since the late 1990s, renewal and foundation time, whether of its principles and instruments or the discussion of metadata structure standards and content standards, revised and rewritten in light of the technological progress. In the midst of this context, the Resource Description was published in 2010 and Access (RDA), a cataloging standard that has been studied around the world, and the RDA Toolkit, online tool for accessing the standard. Eight years have passed since its launch and, aware of the challenges of applying the RDA in Latin American libraries, The Latin American scientific contribution to the discussions on the RDA is questioned. How general objective seeks to discuss the Latin American scientific production on the RDA and defines, as specific objectives that guide the development of this work: [1] define the databases to be analyzed on the research theme; [2] analyze the evolution time, institutions, authors and identified countries; [3] evaluate scientific production about the RDA. The study is justified given the need to observe the path of science on the subject in question and the research gaps on the RDA in Latin American studies. The methodological procedures adopted for the development of this research, in applied nature, are characterized by the qualitative-quantitative approach, with bibliographic research, and the increase in the analysis of results from the data identified, with their presentation in tables and graphs, and content analysis, making use of databases and software for research and document analysis. It is believed that the academic contribution brought by the research comes from the identification of gaps in the discussions on the RDA, in order to open up possibilities for further studies on the topic proposed. |
