Considering information materiality and physicality as topics privileged to, respectively, information physical and social paradigms, this paper aims to discuss these terms conceptually so as to propose theoretical paths to help formulate questionings on political and epistemological implications such concepts confer to the field of information and documentation sciences. By means of a qualitative approach, the theoretical analysis led through paths to achieve results concerning [i] cultural and bureaucratic materiality and information policies; [ii] differentiation between information materiality and physicality, finding reference in reality representation modes, regarding [iii] the monumental and proof character of information and document. Final considerations brought questionings on political and epistemological implications of informational approaches, especially in digital contexts and on network, where phenomena such as datification, under the influence of information regimes, become the topic. |
