For this conference I decided to talk about the topic of access points to bibliographic records, in particular in the field of describing electronic resources. I think that issues related to the preparation of a control tool for those elements are crucial, both for implementing a bibliographic system designed according to the FRBR model and for contributing to the possibility of that interoperability between heterogeneous and multi-disciplinary search systems that constitutes one of the premises for the development of the digital library. However in my opinion the topic can be well analysed only in the context of a more general reflection about the electronic catalog, considering the premise that a search tool which wants to organize the universe of bibliographic digital resources must apply to itself those structural features that make electronic documents so different from the analogic ones. |
