The objective of this work is to analyze the consequences that changes and current trends in the field of librarianship and information science have for the teaching and research work that is carried out in the EGCTI, taking into account the conditions of the regulatory framework that establishes the accreditation granted by the American Library Association (ALA) and the economic and social context of Puerto Rico. The specialized literature on accreditation of programs in different contexts and documents resulting from the processes of reaccreditation and curricular review in the EGCTI is analyzed. The advantages and difficulties of the accreditation process in the current situation of the University of Puerto Rico are presented and discussed, as well as the challenges imposed by the disciplinary development for the teaching and research activity. |
