The availability of public information in e-gov platforms opens up new possibilities for scientometric research. In Brazil, Plataforma Lattes and Portal Inovação are examples of such platforms. Their conception, aligned with the mechanisms of the knowledge society, allowed for the survival of the projects despite government changes, even when the new manager did not understand the role of information and knowledge in new economy. This chapter presented an exploratory study of curricula mentioning "fibrose cística" (cystic fibrosis) in Portal Inovação. We mapped quantities and curriculum densities related to total population by state and "color or race: white" (as surrogate indicator of the population affected by the disease), as well as by academic level and knowledge area of education. We show the regional distribution of the 100 CVs and 30 research groups that most cite the expression. The next stage research should use knowledge engineering tools, including the mapping of social networks and semantic annotation in wiki environments. |
