Popis: Introduction: Open Access main goal is the free access, without economic nor copyright restrictions, to the scientific production. In order to achieve it, two different strategies had been designed: Open Access journal publication (Golden Route) and the development of institutional repositories (Green Route) Objectives: To study the publication of articles on open access journals by the researchers of the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII), a public research entity that belongs to the Science and Innovation Ministry. Furthermore, to illustrate with data those articles impact on the institution. Methods and Materials: The publications of ISCIII researchers recorded in the institution annual report on the years 2007-9 are used as study sample. Obtained data has been organized on an spreadsheet document. The communication analyzes the amount of publications in open access, its yearly evolution, department and subject distribution (Public health, epidemiology, microbiology,…), and the relationship between the journals and the open access movement and their circulation in national and international databases (IBECS, PubMed). Results: Starting with the analysis of this data, the ISCIII golden route progression to open access is shown. In general, it can be argued that the implementation is still limited. Conclusions: scientific publishing in Open Access journals has not had an impact among researchers. The progression ISCIII’s researchers are making on the open access golden route has yet to be completed. We believe an awarness campaing between our researchers needs to be made in order to introduce the advantages of open access publication. Also, we understand that a repository which compiles all the institutional production is a requirement.
