MEDLINE is a bibliographic-abstract database produced by the US National Library of Medicine (NLM) and represents one of the most comprehensive sources of biomedical bibliographic information. Since 1991, the database is being searched for library users on daily basis in the Library of the Faculty of Medicine in Novi Sad. The explosion of biomedical information and growing needs of the healthcare, scientific and teaching staff for contemporary information and biomedical literature, oriented our users to take part in the process of gaining certain information. Having in mind the importance of MEDLINE base, this study deals with the role of the librarian in education of users, in instructing them for research strategies and suggesting further activities in gaining access to full-text journals, aiming at getting precise and current information in the field of biomedicine as fast as possible. |
