The present work offers a comprehensive examination of the various technologies that facilitate the beneficial utilization of small earthworms for addressing the rapid accumulation of biodegradable solid waste in communities, thereby reducing the reliance on natural resources. Specifically, the book explores the potential for reusing vermifiltered sewage and drainage water for irrigating lawns, avenue trees, and flower gardens, thereby conserving potable water. Additionally, the book aims to enhance soil quality by promoting nutrient enrichment, thereby reducing the need for toxic agricultural chemicals to achieve higher crop yields. This publication comprises twelve chapters that explore the advantages and disadvantages of vermitechnology, with the goal of instilling confidence in the minds of young people to tackle the challenge of solid waste management while creating more employment opportunities in society. The book advocates for a Private Public Partnership (PPP) model that adopts a cooperative approach, as this can deliver sustainable results and contribute significantly to the development of a future circular economy. |
