This book entitled “Sustainable Disaster Management and Human Health” is designed to assist the readers with a body of knowledge which permits a transition into the application of disaster management planning and procedures for healthcare facilities and organisations, for the successful achievement of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030 (UNSDG 2030). As disasters do not discriminate in whom it affects, the health care facilities are usually one of the most affected during the event of a disaster. For these reasons and others, health care settings should establish measures of mitigation and preparedness to meet the different types of disasters as effectively as possible. This book therefore discusses the different types of disasters; human made and natural or non- preventable, in addition to providing suggested guidelines, strategies that help in managing these disasters. The researcher strives to write the book in a comprehensive, concise, and feasible manner that can be easily understood. The book consists of sixteen chapters that will help to minimize the adverse effects of disasters on health care settings. This book therefore provides a detailed account of disaster alleviation, management policies and programmes, and makes us aware of the social responsibilities. The book is a pioneering work on environmental management for sustainable development. The text is suitable for professionals, students in the fields of healthcare, environmental science and management and will act as a useful research tool for its implications in impending research. This ground-breaking work is the first interdisciplinary collection of disaster research as this field will continue to grow in the future. |
