George Enescu, the most famous Romanian composer, has the dimensions of a genius of universal value. To talk only about the composer Enescu is far too little. To understand his whole personality, we must talk about the performer, the pedagogue and one of the founders of the Romanian school of music, the conductor Enescu. You will discover in the pages of the catalog testimonies about himself, about his friendships with great musicians of his time: Bartók, Menuhin. As a tribute, in Bucharest, a big festival named after him and a competition for young musicians were dedicated to him every three years initially, then every two years. At the end of the catalog, those interested will find the list of Enescian works. As Y. Menuhin noted,'time does not take him away from us, but brings him closer, so that we can know him better.' |
