Popis: Air and noise pollution often go side by side as also recognised in Air Prevention and Control of Pollution Act, 1981 of India. Air pollution means the presence in the atmosphere of any air pollutant whereas noise is any sound that is loud or unpleasant or causes disturbance and goes beyond 80 decibels. The main ambient air pollutants are particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, sulphur dioxide, volatile organic compounds, carbon monoxide, lead and toxic organic micro-pollutants, generated from road traffic emissions, commercial and residential combustion, thermal power plants, waste incineration, tobacco smoke, metal processing and other industries. Sources of noise pollution, categorised as industrial and non-industrial, include road traffic, aircraft, railroads, construction, industry, consumer appliances and recreational activities. Both air and noise pollutions are held accountable for a number of severe health impacts such as irritation, burning sensation and allergy of eyes; blood pressure and blood sugar; chronic lung and heart diseases; increased level of lead and other toxic substances; increased level of stress and anxiety, irritability, headaches, loss of hearing, sleep disruption, impaired learning, diminished productivity and more. Present volume of the series includes articles on air pollution monitoring, sampling, analysis, health effects, control strategies and more. Topics being covered in this volume are: o Air pollution monitoring, modeling and control o Determination of air pollution sampling points in industrialized - urban areas o Air pollution from automobiles and strategies for its control o Air quality impact assessment of fluoride emissions from an Aluminium smelter o Assessment of combustion noise emission in a turbocharged diesel engine o Environmental dimensions of fly ash released from thermal power plants o Application of long-memory model underoutliers to air pollution levels o Disinfection of air and surfaces in medicine with aerosolization o Analysis of cigarette smokes by Fourier transform ion resonance mass spectrometry o Firefighters occupational exposure to air pollutant levels and potential health effects o Acoustic of sound propagation, health effects and mitigative measures of noise pollution o Air pollution and impacts o Effects of air pollution on leaves of urban trees The volume 3 contains 13articles from 39 researchers and/or academicians representing 9 nations, namely Argentina, Brazil, France, Greece, India, Mexico, Portugal, Slovenia and Spaingiving an overview of the various research activities being carried out in different parts of the world on Air and Noise Pollution.
