Popis: The integration of the Caribbean into globalization today faces a number of international and local constraints. Economic activities tend to be geographically concentrated (especially industry in the Asian zone) and regional integration agreements show real limitations in their ability to be an effective vector of sustainable economic development. The Caribbean region is also subject to specific structural brakes such as population aging, public debt or insufficient security of property and people. Ongoing climate change represents an additional threat that will impact the regional economy, particularly that of the island Caribbean. In addition to new policies to build housing and the productive apparatus to withstand major hurricanes (more severe normalization, burial of buildings, etc.), the Caribbean area must pursue a pragmatic policy of clusters by promoting international competitiveness clusters to allow economic development that will remain nevertheless limited.
