Plain English summary Both binge eating and physical violence perpetration are independently associated with impulsivity and emotion regulation difficulties, yet no known research has explored the link between these two behaviors. Findings from this study show that greater engagement in binge eating is associated with physical violence perpetration among U.S. college students, a particularly high-risk group for both eating disorder and physical violence involvement. These findings underscore the need for more research to understand the mechanisms that explain the link between these behaviors, as well as emphasize the need for prevention efforts on college campuses. |
