Popis: Over the last decade, social mediation has been a field particularly studied by the sociology of professional groups, often pointing out the failure of its « professionalization ». If this analytic term is not the most appropriate to represent the social reality observed on the ground, the sociologist cannot fail to mention the presence of dynamics concerning practices’ consolidation and a search for a kind of social mediation workers’ stabilization. The aim of this article is to demonstrate concretely how the process of labor division among social mediators and local landscape actors is becoming uncertain and this based on an interactionist reading of their coordination links. By studying precisely the ambiguity of their cooperation, we will point out the difficulties for the mediators to launch themselves into a professional activity perceived and experienced as stigmatized. This analysis will therefore bring to light one of the contemporary professional world tendencies: the development of a kind of professional activity structuring according to a pattern alternative to the classic professionalization’s conventional model.
