Objective To investigate the effect of compound Huangbai soulution combined with Chinese herbal medicine wet compress in the treatment of senile pruritus. Methods Totally 60 elderly patients with pruritus were randomly divided into the control group and study group, with 40 cases in each group. Patients in the control group received compound Huangbai solution wet compress, and those in the study group were compound Huangbai solution combined with Chinese herbal medicine wet compress therapy. The efficacy of the treatment was evaluated and compared between groups. Results The effective rate of treatment in the study group was 77. 50%(31/40), higher than 42. 50%(17/40)in the control group, with a significant difference(P＜0. 05). Conclusion Compound Huangbai solution combined with Chinese herbal medicine wet compress showed a therapeutic synergies in relieve the pruritus and improve the healing in elderly patients with pruritus.
