Popis:	The article considers the place and part of Caucasus in Russian history in the period of the Patriotic War of 1812. The author analyzes the situation in the region on the eve of the war and the activities taken by the government in making preparation for it. The response of society to the beginning of the war is shown, the contribution of the region to the victory is determined, the participation in military operations of Cossack and national sub-units formed in the Caucasus is described. The special attention is paid to the prisoners of war and their deportation in 1814-1815.
