Popis: | Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2-like other viral infections cause temporary immunosuppressive effects. This COVID-19 infection-induced temporary suppression of cellular immunity can predispose to infections like fungal. Furthermore, high-dose corticosteroids used in COVID-19 management can trigger or accelerate fungal infections. This case series presents the clinicomicrobiological profile of a few such admitted cases, as it is very important for all clinicians and clinical microbiologists to keep the new yet recently not-so-uncommon entities in mind while evaluating a patient. |
