Popis: | The water resources in the central and southern regions of Iraq are subject to excessive depletion, as a result of the high water needs of development projects and the steady demographic growth in contrast to the decrease in various types of precipitation, and the succession of droughts as a result of global climate changes. Which led to the emergence of dangerous indicators that clearly indicate water shortage and pollution in Iraq, including the study area, in addition to the decreasing amount of water resources coming from the upstream countries, and the large number of pollutants thrown into the rivers without treatment. On the other hand, the need to establish water projects has increased to tighten control over the distribution of water to the various development sectors, which required huge financial resources to implement that the state could not provide. The contribution of the private sector in water investment is intangible due to the weakness of specialized cadres and their lack of experience in the water field. In addition to the wasteful use of water in homes, farms and factories, which led to a decrease in the discharge rates of the Euphrates River and the depletion of groundwater, and the biggest problem is the relationship of water security with food security. Sustainable management of water resources. . |
