Popis: Near Piazza Armerina (Enna), at the beginning of the cen. XX, the remains of the Roman Villa del Casale (4th century AD), with rich mosaic floors, were discovered. After the first restoration, in the mid-fifties of the cen. XX, the architect Minissi and C. Brandi designed a stable protection and system for the use of the remains of the villa. The roof was made with modern materials: aluminum profiles and sheets of glass and perspex, which evoked the ancient volumes, while maintaining the authenticity of the remains. The arrangement, due to lack of maintenance, has been a source of deterioration for the mosaics, and in fact since 2007 the works for their destruction and replacement have begun, according to a project (commissioner V. Sgarbi, arch. G. Meli) that requires a vision both external and internal unsatisfactory. Even if the problems related to water infiltration and microclimatic data appear solved, as well as those of enhancement and use, thanks to the implementation of the Management Plan (2012), the overall vision refers to warehouses or deposits that cover remains of extraordinary beauty.
