This article aims at analysing the complexity surrounding the fact of surviving the clandestine centers of dentention during the last Argentinian dictatorship and therefore, the ensuing complexity of the artistic production of the people who were incarcerated for political reasons. First, I would like to examine the way the terrorist State tried to justify an unprecedented “politicide” in Argentina, as it drew upon such preexisting categories as that of the “subversive delinquent”, so much so that the social body was pervaded with the certainty of its existence. Then, I will consider the reasons which led to a prevalence of the stigmatising “hero / traitor” binarism, partly maintained by the post-dictatorial literature; and I will finally deal with the consequences of this stigmatisation, particularly concerning the circulation, visibility and archiving of the artistic production made in prison. |
