Popis: | One of the main problems faced by the historian of ancient Armorica is the scarcity of inscribed documents from the great public or private epigraphy. It is therefore tempting to try to make up for this lack with the modest epigraphic documents that are the graffiti on ceramic or metal, frequent on most urban or rural sites. All of them bear witness to the propensity, common to all men since the invention of writing, to engrave with drypoint, on materials of little resistance, names of persons, amorous or insulting words, and sometimes even dedications to various deities. After studying an archaeological corpus, a linguistic analysis should enable us to take a new look at Gallo-Roman onomastics and phonetics. |
