According to the World Health Organization tooth retention is defined as any tooth that arriving the normal time of eruption is being stopped partially or completely and remains in the maxillary unerupted. Many diseases are associated with dental retention, one of them are dentigerous cysts. It is presented a male patient of 56 years old, who was attended at the Stomatology Consultation for odontology, in the realization of a X-ray of lower molars the discovery of two mandibular third molars was found upside; around crowns a radiolucent image was observed which impressed a pericoronary widening space. Surgical excision was performed and sent a pericoronary tissue sample to pathology; the diagnosis of dentigerous cyst in both cases was received. The patient evolved satisfactorily after performing surgery. |
