More and more artists refer to their work as “inquiries”. What do these inquiries in art consist of? What can social sciences learn from them? A researcher, Yaël Kreplak, discusses those issues with three artists: Thierry Boutonnier, who elaborates alternative relationships to non-humans and territories by developing long-term participative projects; Gwenola Wagon, whose work examines how our world is transformed by digital innovations and technologies; and Alexis Guillier, who recomposes the story of uncertain objects in films, performances, and installations. The plurality of such inquiries in art proves how artful practices address worlds-to-come, which they give form to, they put into words, and they call into question. |
