OPPORTUNITIES OF INCREASE IN THE USE OF DOM ESTIC PROTEIN FODDERS IN THELIGHT OF THE POSSIBLE BAN OF GMO IN LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION

| Popis: | The aim of the paper was to determine the possibilities of increasing the use of domestic protein feeds(rapeseed meal and legume) in the industrial feed production, in the context of the ban of GMO in livestockproduction. On the basis of literature research and nutritional recommendations and standards, it wasfound there are limited possibilities of using domestic protein sources in feed, especially for poultry andpigs. Considering the border shares of rapeseed meal and legume seeds in mixtures, as well as the sizeand structure of feed production, potential possibilities of increasing their use were identified, in order toreduce consumption and imports of soybean meal. On the basis of a comparison of the actual and potentialconsumption of rapeseed meal and legume seeds in the production of industrial feeds, it was found that,despite dietary restrictions, there are significant potential opportunities to increase the use of domesticprotein sources, provided that their supply on the domestic market is sufficient. |
