The article provides a comparative analysis of same-name books “Abkhazia and the New Athos Monastery of St. Simon the Canaanite in it,” published by different compilers — A. L. and I. N. The person behind the initials “A. L.” is Archimandrite Leonid, in the world Lev Aleksandrovich Kavelin, while there are several versions regarding the identity of another compiler behind the initials “I. N.” Since not all publishers and researchers who referred to these editions clearly distinguished them, the author of the article refers to works that use the books of Archimandrite Leonid and I. N. later editions. The established differences make it possible to conclude that the texts of these books are not identical: the text of the first book was included in the second one and was significantly supplemented. The author of the article makes an attempt to establish the name of the author, hidden under the initials “I. N.” |
