Miodrag Vasiljević's functional method for basic solfeggio education

| Popis: | This paper emphasizes theoretical view of the Miodrag Vasiljević's functional method and its impact on the implementation of elementary solfeggio teaching. This method established a basis for a creation of an authentic Serbian music school system. It was on its principles that the modern elementary solfeggio education was created, and richness of a national music heritage was taken at scientific, pedagogical, national and historic levels. Functional method is based on trusted and proven didactics including methodological solutions so that it achieves a tangible pedagogical results. Nevertheless, it has been faced a significant number of opponents among pedagogy experts, who did not have insight into a functional method. Once Vasiljević passed away, the Functional Method was removed from contemporary education programs, and the printing of his books was halted. The aim of this paper is to point out to the fact that the Serbian musical folklore can smoothly and easily be implemented into a modern elementary solfeggio education, simply by a selection of melodies, songs, and dances and with the help of Functional Method, as it is a logical upgrade of a present system. |
