Popis: | The essay in question considers policies that address ecological issues for the protection of local areas, in the light of the changes introduced in decision-making processes concerning the environment since the emergence of post-normal science. These changes seem to go in the direction of an increased distrust of expert knowledge and political decisions taken in the general interest by the population. In the case considered in the research, that of the local opposition to the Italian Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), one can also see how two different psycho-social defense mechanisms arise among the population and at a political level with respect to a perceived risk. That of identification, which is linked to adaptation strategies and defined according to the metaphor of the palm. That of idealization, connected to the idea of the exceptionality of one’s own habitat, which I indicate with the pomegranate metaphor. |
