This study takes its starting point from an empirical research conducted within the project AdequateInformation Management in Europe (AIM)1. It is based on a sample of qualitative semi-structured in-depthinterviews with eight editors and journalists working for Romanian newspapers and television stations, responsible of the “EU beat” in their newsrooms, and with nine Romanian correspondents in Brussels. Theanalysis of the interviews, built on the constructionist paradigm, outlines journalists’ experience with thecoverage of the European Union issues, their professional self-understanding and their interactions with the EUinstitutions and fellow journalists within an environment of set standards and routines. |
