People’s beliefs about their own capabilities in organize and execute courses of action (selfefficacy beliefs) influences in performance, perseverance and effort to accomplish tasks. It is common in Introductory Physics Courses, focus of the present work, that students present low self-efficacy in physics learning and collaborative work. The purpose of this study was to investigate the development of students’ perceived self-efficacy in physics learning and in collaborative work through a modified Team-Based Learning (TBL) method. An exploratory case study was carried out in a physics majors class of a Brazilian public university. The results indicate positive changes in self-efficacy as a result of the TBL designed course, mainly, due to individual experiences and to observation of the classmates. This paper may suggest future courses of action to redesign Introductory Physics Courses. |
