Popis: Steroidal glycoalkaloids (SGAs) accumulate in Solanum, but their hydroxylating enzymes are unknown. Here, the authors report 2-OXOGLUTARATE DEPENDENT DIOXYGENASE enzymes that catalyze the committed hydroxylation steps in the biosynthesis of leptinine insecticidal compounds in wild potato or non-bitter SGAs in cultivated tomato.
