This article tackles how the movie En construcción (José Luis Guerin, 2001) offers a reflection on time and human mortality through events that punctuate a construction site in the district of Raval in Barcelona. Human time, historical time, geological and cosmic times intertwine in micro-narratives, dialogues and adventures skilfully arranged by editing, as a multitude of eras stamps that are bygone or in the process of ending. Then, the article focuses on visual marks spread during the movie: images that are pictorial, photographical or filmic and send us back to other stories in a complex game of transtextuality. |
