Popis: This study aims to determine the opinions of students and teachers on Information Technologies and Software courses (ITS). Secondary school students (691) in the central districts of Ankara and Information Technologies teachers (28) employed in the districts participated in this survey study. The data have been collected through a questionnaire developed by researchers and open-ended questions. In the analysis of quantitative data frequency and percentage, as for qualitative data content analysis have been employed. The results suggest that in the ITS lesson, students regard themselves as less competent in the standard of “problem solving, programming and original product development”. The subject students like most is “multi-media applications” and the subject they like least is “hardware”. Students do not like the lessons based on instructions but implementation. As the means of assessment, written exams and performance evaluations are used most.
