Popis: | Eosinophilic gastroenteritis (EGE) is a digestive disorder in children and adults that is characterised by eosinophilic infiltration in the stomach and intestine. Depending on the dominant layer of infiltration, this disorder is classified into three types, namely, mucosal, muscularis, and subserosa. Subserosa clinical presentation usually begins with ascites and is sometimes associated with symptoms of intestinal obstruction. Ascites is characterised by marked eosinophilia in ascitic fluid. EGE with ascites simulating appendicitis and peritonitis is rare in paediatric patients. This publication aims to report a case series of EGE with clinical features, treatment responses, and a review of the current strategies in the management of eosinophilic ascites. |
