Popis: This paper traces the practice of choral singing of the three major ethnolinguistic groups – Italians, Slovenians, Germans – in pre-war Trieste, while the city was still part of the Habsburg Monarchy. Through widespread reviews in the media, choral singing in different social and linguistic contexts became politicised, with the goal of establishing political and national alliances.
