Abstract Introduction This study was aimed to assess the prevalence of hyperuricemia and its associated risk factors among hypertensive patients in Southwest China. Methods From September 2013 to March 2014, a multistage, stratified sampling was conducted on 3505 hypertensive people aged 50–79 years who lived in urban communities within Chengdu and Chongqing, using a questionnaire and performing physical and biochemical measurements.
