This study deals with a cross-sectional survey, with the technical resources of a quantitative approach carried out in a public maternity hospital located in the south zone of Teresina (PI), which aims to characterize the profile of mothers of infants in Kangaroo Mother Care . It was interviewed all the mothers who participated in the Kangaroo Mother Care during March-April 2011, a total of 45 mothers using a questionnaire containing 14 questions, and data were analyzed with the Epi Info version 6.04b. With respect to socio-demographic profile, 46.69% of respondents were between 20 and 29 years, 66.70% mixed, 64.40% resided within the state, married 53.30%, 28.90% had completed high school full occupancy was 28.90% to 68.90% of household incomes less than or equal to the minimum wage. As the profile of health was 57.80% primipara 66.70%, 77.80% had no previous abortion, cesarean section was 57.80%, 59.10% with a pregnancy duration of 31 and 34 weeks, 77 80% had less than six prenatal visits. With base in the findings and current literature, we found that the socio-demographic and economic changes have strong influence on health conditions and therefore the reality experienced by the mother influences the practice of Kangaroo Care. |
