In the nineteenth century history of Parma’s literature, Dante’s fortune comes in contact with the occult sciences and it is particularly affected by mesmerism and spiritism. After tracing the historical-cultural coordinates of these two pseudosciences, the essay provides a first survey of two poems which intertwine Dantean influences and paranormal phenomena: La luce eterea by the Count Jacopo Sanvitale and Due canti sulle corporali esistenze dello spirito che fu nell’ultima Dante Allighieri by Francesco Scaramuzza. |
