Based on one of the problematic fields of internal migration process in Turkey, this study tries to analyse the problems arose from industrialisation in the physical and social structure in the case of Dilovası district. Sociologically, migration and urbanisation are natural outcomes of social changes. However, it is quiet striking that migration itself actually possesses the ability to lead up to social transformations. Considered in the context of a field of study, Dilovası today can be said to be experiencing urban poverty and lower class localisation conditions significantly and remaining on the agenda with environmental problems. In spite of the fact that the newspaper headings about Dilovası as "cancer plain" are left far behind, it seems that the industry originated problems still remain to be on the agenda. From this perspective, taking into account the case of Dilovası despite the fact that it is limited, the study scrutinises the economical, political and cultural aspects of the social change and transformation in Turkey in the last decade with regard to migration phenomenon. |
