Popis: | Amyand's hernia is defined as inguinal hernia in which vermiform appendix is contained in the hernia sac. It is predominantly found on right side due to the anatomical position of the vermiform appendix and left-sided Amyand's hernia is extremely rare. Herein, we report a case of left-sided Amyand's hernia with bilateral inguinal hernia in a 10-month-old boy. The left groin mass was firm and mobile, with skin erythema. However, the mass could not be completely incarcerated into the abdominal cavity. A diagnosis of left incarcerated inguinal hernia was made, and laparotomy was performed. For the laparotomy, an oblique incision was made on the left groin, and the inguinal canal was opened in accordance with the usual inguinal hernia repair. The hernia sac contained the appendix, ileum, cecum, and ascending colon. |
