Popis: The aim of the present study was to optimize media components to increase the production of biosurfactant (Bs) by Streptomyces youssoufiensis SNSAA03 employing response surface methodology (RSM) and artificial neural network (ANN). The RSM showed the following as the optimal condition for the production of Bs: glucose 15 g L–1, casein 0.3 g L–1, NaCl 2.25 g L–1 and pH 7. The superiority of the ANN model was proved with more accurate and consistent R2 values 0.998 when compared to RSM R2 value 0.980. The Bs produced by SNSAA03 was identified as glycolipid with 4–methoxy–2, 5–dimethylfuran–3(2H)–one and 1–Nanodecene acid. The micro titre plate assay showed that glycolipid at the concentration of 125 µg mL−1 was effective in controlling the biofilm formation by S. aureus. Thus, the glycolipid produced from SNSAA03 can be used as a potent antibiofilm agent.
