Popis: 5-Deoxyribose is formed from 5′-deoxyadenosine, a toxic byproduct of radical S-adenosylmethionine enzymes. Here, the authors identify and biochemically characterize a bacterial salvage pathway for 5-deoxyribose, consisting of three enzymes, and solve the crystal structure of the key aldolase.
