Popis:	Dioxygen protein sensors undergo structural distortions upon binding, but the role of heme distortion in allostery is unclear. Here heme distortion in a bacterial dioxygen sensor is studied using picosecond time-resolved electronic absorption spectroscopy and shown to control the allosteric equilibrium.
