The objective was to evaluate the knowledge degree of pregnant women related to the dental cares that must be taken during the pregnancy and the cares of buccal health in the newly born. Fifth pregnant women had been interviewed to collect data according to a semi-open questionnaire divided in two parts: in the first one, data on the cares with the pregnant woman, and in second, information regarding the buccal cares related to newly born. The age of the woman varied from 16 to 46 years, 36% carry through some dental treatment during the pregnancy, 76% believed that they can receive dental treatment in the pregnancy and 48% believed that in the pregnancy the number of carieses increased. About the dental care of the baby, 4% only believed that the deciduous teeth would not have to be well-taken care of as the permanent ones, 30% that the baby's bottle use was correct and 46% of them had received some information related to the buccal hygiene from the baby. Therefore, it was observed that the pregnant women are being clarified about their own dental care and the baby´s, but the doubts and the lack of application of this knowledge still exist. |
