Popis: Ragtime, by E. L. Doctorow describes the United States of America in the beginning of twentieth century. The novel focuses on the migration process in the forming of the country. The immigrant appears, there, as a negative element in the North American society. The foreigners didnt have rights. Ragtime is not a conventional historical novel, because it was written in a postmodern way there arent long narratives, and there are fragmentation, discontinuation and fading affects. In this way, this article thinks about migration on the novel a historical romance. Linda Hutcheon and Stuart Hall contribute to analyze the novel.
