Introduction of Reclaimed Water Utilization and Progress in Frontier Research in Japan

Popis: Due to population growth and global warming,the contradiction between the supply and demand of water resources is becoming more and more serious.In recent years,reclaimed water utilization has gained widespread attention globally as a way to alleviate water shortage.Compared with natural water resources,reclaimed water has the advantages of being large and stable in quantity,easy to use,and not being constrained by climatic conditions.If urban wastewater is properly treated and reused,it can alleviate the global water shortage to a large extent.Japan,as one of the early adopters of reclaimed water,has accumulated some experience in wastewater reuse.This paper summarized reclaimed water-related policies,treatment technologies,examples in Japan,and the international standard setting.It also outlined reclaimed water measures and the purpose and basic philosophy behind the related policies in Japan,especially the performance evaluation criteria of reclaimed water treatment technology,so as to provide some reference for the utilization and promotion of recycled water in China.
