Information Culture in Library Space in the Context of Contemporary Consciential Wars

Popis: The article reveals the strategies and tools are used in modern consciential wars against libraries as one of the main social institutions for the preservation and transmission of cultural values on a national and civilizational scale. The essential features of the modern era information wars, and consciential wars astheir highest form which are aimed at the destruction of national self-awareness and identity, are analyzed. The global danger to national self-awareness is the promotion of a hostile system of spiritual values and life style, language, culture, and traditions. One of the forms of consciential war is "rewriting history", imposing enemy myths, trying to create alternative interpretations of the processes of civilizational development of mankind, and it is carried out through destroying libraries in occupied territories. The virtualization of society forms a digital age person - a bearer of new moral values, who perceives the world as a global gaming environment. Therefore, the object of influence in the consciential war is not only the library as a social and communication institution, but also its individual user, an active user of social net works. In the conclusions, it is noted that the main threats to national information security are defined in the national legislation, the types of destructive propaganda of the aggressor country are singled out; a system of priority measures against hostile informational influences has been developed. Libraries work in organizing media education contributes to the development of critical thinking and raising the level of media competence, under standing the advantages and dangers of the Internet virtual space. Libraries the main task in this regard is the development of the book ecosystem with the aim of popularizing the Ukrainian language as an important factor in preserving national identity; stimulation of readers’ interest in national history, sources of national spirituality and culture. Digitization of the national book heritage in order to preserve the national memory is a promising strategy for countering the wars of consciousness.
