Popis: | The theme of the role of armies and military camps in the provinces of the empire has always assumed fundamental importance for the understanding of the imperial policy of territorial control and agricultural exploitation. Recently, in the province of Mauretania Tingitana (northwest Morocco), the new technologies of non-destructive investigation applied to the study of military camps of the Roman age located in the Loukkos river basin have added new data to the identification and understanding of internal spaces and structures present. The results of the investigations conducted with the magnetic method at the el Mers site confirmed the presence of a military camp not far from the Al Makhazine river, providing important information on the role of the military garrison in an area of high commercial and cereal value. |
