Analysis of relationship between emotional intelligence and social adjustment in teenager male students.

Popis: Introduction: The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence and social adjustment in a sample of teenager students from Fasa city. Method: For this purpose, 150 students, who were volunteers to participate in this research, of three age groups- 10-12 years old(first grade of guidance school), 13-15 years old (third grade of guidance school), and 16-18 years old (third grade of high school)- were selected by multiple clustral random sampling. All participants were asked to complete the Emotional Intelligence Scale (EIS) and the Social Acceptance Questionnaire (SAQ). Analysis of the data involved both descriptive and inferential statistics including means, standard deviations and regression analysis. Results: The results of multiple regression analysis showed that there is a significance relationship between the emotional intelligence and the social adjustment of the students of 10-12-year old group and 13-15 year old group (P< 0/01). But there was not significance relationship between the emotional intelligence and the social adjustment agents at 16-18-year old group (P>0/05). There was also a significance relationship between the total emotional intelligence and social adjustment at the level (P0/05). Conclusion: The results of regression analysis showed that the social adjustment of teenagers could be predicted by emotional intelligence. That is, when emotional intelligence will be high, the social acceptance and social adjustment is high and vice versa. Based on findings, it can be concluded that emotional intelligence improves the quality of social and emotional relationship skills. It also helps individual to coping with life problems and stress.
