Objective:The aim of this study was to determine the effect of sleep quality on self-care agency and blood pressure control in patients with hypertension.Materials and Methods:This descriptive-cross-sectional study was carried out in family health centers no.1 and no.2, located in the district center of a province in the Eastern Black Sea Region of Turkey, between February and May 2016. Two hundred-ninety one hypertension patients aged 18 years and older were included in the study. Data were collected using the descriptive questionnaire, the Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) and the self-care agency scale. Blood pressure, height and weight measurements of the patients were made.Results:It was determined that 43.3% of the hypertensives had poor sleep quality and the mean score of the self-care scale was 93.64±22.19. Hypertensive patients with good sleep quality had a significantly higher blood pressure control rate than those with poor sleep quality, and there was a very weak positive significant correlation between PSQI total score and mean systolic blood pressure (p |
